About the Founder/Director: SellaSellam
He is a young writer who holds a master degree and comes from an agriculture-based family. He developed an affinity for traditional art forms at an early stage and has been writing novels, poetry, theatre plays, essays and much more. He ventured to Chennai with his brother and his dream of entering the Cinema. He was bestowed with an opportunity of meeting Padma Shri Na Muthuswamy, the art director of the theatre group “Koothu-P-Pattarai.” He says it was then that his interest for plays seeped to the next level. A meeting with artist Natesh Muthuswamy taught him the importance of theatrical reading and theatre play formations. He has been involved in creating plays ever since and has successfully written 15 plays in the past year. In the pursuit of following his dreams, he has started his own theatre group “Sellam Kalaalayam” and has been writing modern plays. He even imparts training to school and college students. Last year, the play Kaveri was staged as a production of Koothu-P-Pattarai in the name “Aval Peyyar Kaveri” in several schools and colleges. Amidst all this, training for movie directions is also being focussed on.
